Quiet office interior with desks prepared for document review

About the practice

A small practice built around exception lists

SoftEng Lab works from Xizhi with finance teams who need a second, independent pair of eyes on fraud flags and unusual transactions — before the issue reaches the board or the external auditor.

Origin

SoftEng Lab began as a desk practice supporting mid-market companies in New Taipei whose internal control reports kept growing faster than their capacity to explain them. Controllers were spending Monday mornings debating whether a flagged remittance was treasury housekeeping or diversion. We stepped in to classify those flags with a written trail.

What we stand for

We treat every unusual transaction as a story that needs documents, not a score that needs a slogan. Our memos separate cleared items, items that need more evidence, and items that should escalate. We do not sell monitoring software, and we do not replace your statutory auditor.

How we work

Engagements open with an intake call to define the flag set and period. Evidence arrives under confidentiality terms. Classification happens item by item. You review a draft memo, then we finalise and hold a short clarification session. When useful, we sit with your bookkeepers in Taipei for a ledger exception walkthrough.

People and place

Reviews are led by senior auditors with experience in Taiwanese SME payment cycles, intercompany treasury moves, and bank exception reports. Our office is at No.27Lane169KangningSt.TaipeiHsienHsichihTaiwan(China). Much of the work is document-based; on-site sessions are available across Greater Taipei when the batch is large or the evidence is paper-heavy.

Who we serve

Finance controllers, compliance officers, and owners who receive fraud or unusual-activity flags from banks, ERPs, or internal checklists. Typical clients are manufacturers, distributors, and service groups preparing for interim fieldwork or clearing a backlog before year-end.
